Moulding complements

Green moulding

Bentonite: Montmorillonite clay used as green moulding binder. It binds sand grains together from pressure-driven moulding until casting solidification. Calcium and Sodium grades available.

Coal: Carbonaceous fines material available in different sizes. It is added to the water, sand and bentonite mixture to form lustrous carbon surface films in copper-based alloys and iron castings. Due to the skin carbon uptake, it should not be used in steel casting, where magnetites are recommended.

Arebond: Product based on very fine sized silica sand (AFA: 115-120) with special bonding agents (bentonites and mineral oil). It is delivered ready for use. Just a 5 mm layer of the product is used as contact sand for precision and artistic works with non-ferric alloys reaching an extraordinary finish with minimal tolerance.

Plastibond: Pre-gelled corn starch powder added to green moulding mixtures (0,5-1%). This additive improves the mould green strength, plasticity and permeability. Furthermore, it presents high water retention, especially helpful for moulds where pouring and melting take long time. About 2% of bentonite dosage savings are possible by using this additive.

Albanex: Additive significantly decreasing scabbing defects formation.

Cold Box complements

Additives for casting surface quality improvement in the Cold Box binding system. In particular, Ferranex and Veinseal antiveining additives, granulated coal and different size magnetites stand out.

Release agents: Aluminium or wax-based solutions in organic solvents avoiding cores sticking to coreboxes.

Friocol: Cold setting glue for core and corebox recovery and assembly.

Mastike: Refractory paste filling holes and cracks in damaged core and coreboxes, allowing their recovery.

Hot Box complements

Release agents: Silicone-based liquids avoiding shell and core sticking to models.

Termocol: Hot setting glue for shell moulds and pre-coated sand cores.

No-bake complements

Release agents: Aluminium or wax-based solutions used to avoid sand moulds and cores sticking to the model or the corebox during stripping in Cold Box and No-bake processes.

Dikaflex: Plastic string used to avoid flashing from metal release within the mould by a perfect clasping of the two parts of the mould. The product is rapidly placed and offers advantages such as reducing finishing works and increasing moulding boxes useful life.

Flexible Tube: Hollow flexible tube allowing gas release from sand cores and moulds. Available in diameters from 2 to 30 mm.

Friocol: Cold setting glue for core and corebox recovery and assembly.

MA Sand Release: Reddish organics and inorganics fines mixture used in Sodium Silicate binding processes to increase shaking properties.

Die casting

KOKILLESCHLICHTE KS mould release agents range includes thermal resistant liquid coatings used in gravity and low pressure aluminium and magnesium alloys die casting operations. Products are mixed with water in automatic mixing pumps that transport the emulsion to the place of use either directly or through circulation lines. Such coating provides insulating properties and extends moulds bench life. Besides, these mould release agents do not interfere in surface treatment processes such as chrome plating, painting or powder coating. Application of these products allows special surface roughness in some automotive parts such as intake manifolds or wheel covers. They are also used in furniture and household goods manufacturing.
